Settings
The sections below follow the order of the sidebar in the extension’s settings page.
Heuristic analysis
These settings tune the automatic detection of explicit content. A “Reset to default settings” button restores them all in one click. This panel also shows the inventory of built-in dictionaries (one language per row, with its word count) for reference — detection automatically combines your browser’s language and the visited page’s language, with nothing to configure.
Blocking by page URL analysis
- Enable URL heuristic analysis: turns this block on or off.
- URL blocking sensitivity: five sensitivity levels
- Very low: blocking triggered only by words describing explicit acts and practices — words with little or no ambiguity.
- Low: blocking also triggered by explicit vocabulary in common use on the adult web.
- Medium: blocking also triggered by vocabulary in common use on the adult web.
- High: blocking also triggered by sexual words in common, medical or informal register, without being explicit.
- Very high: blocking also triggered by ambiguous or informal words whose meaning depends heavily on context, borderline non-sexual.
Blocking by page content analysis
- Minimum number of word occurrences to detect: from 2 to 20 occurrences before the page is blocked.
- Page content detection sensitivity: the same five levels as for the URL.
- Number of page blocks before adding to the dynamic blacklist: from 2 to 10 blocks on the same domain.
Media blocking
Media neutralization sensitivity: a single setting, on the same five levels, for neutralising a single image or video.
Built-in blacklists
A blacklist prevents access to the sites it contains, at the network level, before loading even starts. The default list, built into the extension, isn’t editable; only the dynamic list can be adjusted from this page.
Dynamic blacklist
Filled in automatically: every heuristic block on a domain’s page counts as a detection. Once the threshold set above is reached, the domain is blocked at the network level from the next visit on. Removing a domain from this list fixes a false positive.
Manual blacklist
Domains you add yourself, blocked like the default list. Add a domain (format checked, duplicates and whitelisted domains rejected) or remove one at any time.
Imported blacklists
One or more domain lists added in two ways: from a URL (http/https), fetched when added and refreshable on demand, or from a local text file (no network request at all, but it can’t refresh itself automatically — re-import the file to update it). A domain already on the whitelist is excluded from the import, without blocking the rest of the source. For each source: enable or disable it, refresh it (URL sources only), or remove it.
Whitelist
Domains that are never blocked by any blacklist and never promoted to the dynamic blacklist (search engines, messaging services, service platforms…). Built into the extension and can’t be modified from this page. Page content heuristic analysis still applies to these domains. It also protects your blacklists upstream: a manual entry or an import targeting a whitelisted domain is refused (for an import, only that domain is excluded — the rest of the source is kept).
Bible verses
Choose which verses can appear, at random, on the block page and on the full-screen veil — at least three must stay active. “Reactivate all verses” selects them all in one click; the translation in use is shown for reference.
Statistics
Off by default. Either way, the data stays in this browser and is never sent anywhere, neither to the extension’s developer nor to any third party.
- Network blocks (must be turned on via “Enable statistics”): number of blocks per domain, with the cause (default / dynamic / manual / imported blacklist, or URL heuristic analysis) and the first and last block dates.
- Blocks by page content analysis (always recorded, even without enabling statistics above): number of full-screen veil activations per domain, dates, and whether the domain has since been promoted to the dynamic blacklist.
“Disable statistics” permanently deletes the recorded network blocks as well as the heuristic blocks already promoted to the blacklist; heuristic blocks not yet promoted remain, since they’re collected independently of this setting.
